An Oregon Court of Appeals upheld a 22 million award to a man who lost his vision from using Cordarone. The jury granted the Cordarone user $1.9 million in economic damages plus $20 million in punitive damages. When the patient began using Cordarone to treat his heart condition, the manufacturer, American Home Products (AHP), had information that linked the drug to vision loss, but it did not list permanent vision loss as possible side effect or recommended regular ophalmogolical exams on its package insert and promotional material.
